Train and compete in a professionally organized summer environment led by current college coaches. The Blues U19 and U17 teams give ambitious boys and girls repeated high-level instruction, meaningful matches, ongoing evaluation, and a direct connection to the Charlottesville Blues FC player pathway.
THE BLUES DIFFERENCE
MORE THAN A SUMMER TEAM
A traditional college ID clinic may provide a player with one day of instruction and evaluation. The Blues provide an entire summer of college-coach-led development within a competitive team environment.

Each team is led by a current college coach, allowing players to receive consistent instruction, feedback, accountability, and evaluation throughout the summer.

PROGRAM DETAILS

SEASON
The season begins in early June and continues through July. Qualifying teams may continue through the end of July for league playoffs and the Final Four.

TRAINING
Teams generally train twice per week. The schedule may be adjusted around matches, travel, recovery, weather, and postseason competition.

COMPETITION
Teams are expected to play approximately six to eight regional league matches, plus potential playoffs and Final Four competition.

ROSTERS
Each team will target approximately 20 selected players, with a maximum roster of 22 when additional coverage is developmentally and competitively appropriate.

COACHING
Every team will be led by a current college coach and supported by the Charlottesville Blues FC technical and administrative structure.

PLAYER MOVEMENT
Eligible players may move between the Blues U17 and U19 Youth Teams and the Blues Second Teams when appropriate and permitted by applicable league and roster rules.
MOVEMENT WITH PURPOSE
A CONNECTED PLAYER PATHWAY
Team placement is based on birth-year eligibility, current ability, positional needs, development, and the competition rules governing each roster.
Final age eligibility and player movement remain subject to the governing league’s 2027 competition and rostering rules.
OPEN TRYOUTS
HOW PLAYERS ARE SELECTED
Open tryouts are available to all eligible U19 and U17 boys and girls. No invitation is required. Players must complete tryout registration before attending, and roster offers are determined by Blues staff following evaluation.
REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS
Complete the 2027 Open Tryout registration for the appropriate age group. Provide the player’s soccer background, position, experience, and contact information before attending the tryout.
ATTEND THE TRYOUT
Participate in an evaluation led by Blues staff. Confirmed dates, times, locations, and preparation instructions will be provided with the tryout details.
STAFF REVIEW
Coaches assess each player’s ability, experience, position, and potential fit in relation to the age group and team needs.
ROSTER OFFER
Selected players receive a formal roster offer and instructions to secure their place. A player’s roster position is secured after completing the required commitment process.
